Welcome

Welcome to my own little corner of cyberspace for all things Stephanie Plum and much, much more. I absolutely love - Okay, I'm completely obsessed with- Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. After diligent searching for anything Plum on the internet, I discovered that the Stephanie 411 was next to nil. So this is my own little contribution to the lingerie buyer turned bounty hunter world of Stephanie Plum whose lot in life is to choose between two blindingly delicious, strong, sexy men; escape the occasional car fire; and refrain from the temptations of a delectible boston creme donut threatening to widen her waistline.

Welcome to Stephanie's Obsession! Please Enjoy!

The Lovely SO Reader Iheartjason Gets a Nod from Jason O'Mara

One of our own incredible SO readers has been a bit busy lately writing a blog for the one and only Jason O'Mara. Iheartjason's article was the first blog to have graced Jason O'Mara's new website. Iheartjason was gracious enough to let me post this awesome blog on my site.

"Like all of you here, I am a fan of Jason O’Mara.

When I heard about the US version of Life on Mars I was so excited. Jason/time-travel-1973 NY—what’s not to love. Got onto the ABC LoM site and was having a blast talking theory with other fans about the show.

Then ABC cancelled Life on Mars-I am embarrassed to admit that the day I heard this I was so upset in work, people were asking me what was wrong. It wasn’t just that a show I absolutely loved was gone but that I would not have the “friends” I had been talking to for months.

Heard that a fan of the show had started his own site-which we fondly referred to as The 125. So off we went to our new home. We have so much fun there. And it turned into more than just a fan site—it became the place you went when you needed a laugh, when you needed comforting, when you needed advice.

So as the months went by someone said we should get together. Our first meeting place was Mars, PA. Loved the name—not sure what there was to do there. Then someone suggested—-NYC! Perfect! Now the real planning started-Date for the party—October 9th-the anniversary of the show’s premiere-check. Venue for a 70′s party-check. Hotels for a long weekend-check. Plans to find filming sites-check.

Off we all went to meet for the weekend. Coming from places all over the US. Met at hotels-then off to Tortilla Flats in the Village for dinner. Next day—walking tours where we found many sites used in the show. Saturday night-70’s party and Sunday-walk into Brooklyn to find the 125!

Even though my family was afraid that I would be murdered by the strange people I was going to meet that weekend it was like greeting old friends. No awkwardness, no gaps in conversation. These were people I knew! These were people I had laughed and cried with.

One of the best weekends of my life! I raved about it so much for months that the next year my husband came with me to our 2nd gathering. There is so much more to tell—but save that story for another time.

And that is how Fabal1, Leah77, Carlingsgrl, Leonessee56, Rocketgirl, HazyCosmicJive, Lillielue, Chrissilou, Hyde_35, Mary51122, DavidWhiteShoes, Irisheyes404, JakeBlue, SRS-LoM, Zagar, No Nuts Norris, BronxGirl, EpsilonProcess, CamberwickBlue, TV’sGrady,Sam Tyler, Cindy53 and Cindy became Leah, Jamie, Darell, Frank, Jen, Regina, Terri, Chris, Mary, David, Maureen, Ant, Yvonne, Joe, Sue, Larah, Jeff, Cindy, Cindy, Randy and Ian and became my friends forever. And Jason of course!"

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Iheartjason....You are one LUCKY chick!!!!! ;) I'm so happy for you!! Great job and very well written. I think it's so cool that you all got together and toured the hot spots!!! What a wonderful idea!!

New Synopsis for "One for the Money"

Lionsgate has updated their synopsis for "One for the Money." Not that this is much news because all of you who have read the books knows what the movie is about, but it still gives me hope that the otherwise dormant state of this movie over at Lionsgate is getting some small signs of life. Yay!!!

"A proud, born-and-bred Jersey girl, Stephanie Plum's got plenty of attitude, even if she's been out of work for the last six months and just lost her car to a debt collector. Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie (Katherine Heigl) turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company... as a recovery agent. True, she doesn't even own a pair of handcuffs and her weapon of choice is pepper spray, but that doesn't stop Stephanie from taking on Vinny's (Patrick Fischler) biggest bail-jumper: former vice cop and murder suspect Joe Morelli (Jason O'Mara) - yup, the same sexy, irresistible Joe Morelli who seduced and dumped her back in high school.

Nabbing Morelli would be satisfying payback - and a hefty payday - but as Stephanie learns the ins and outs of becoming a recovery agent from Ranger (Daniel Sunjata), a hunky colleague who's the best in the business, she also realizes the case against Morelli isn't airtight. Add to the mix her meddling family, a potentially homicidal boxer, witnesses who keep dying and the problem of all those flying sparks when she finds Morelli himself... well, suddenly Stephanie's new job isn't nearly as easy as she thought.

Director: Julie Anne Robinson
Writers: Janet Evanovich, Stacy Sherman, Karen Ray and Liz Brixius
Producers: Wendy Finerman, Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi and Sidney Kimmel
Executive Producers: Andre Lamal, Katherine Heigl, Nancy Heigl, Bruce Toll and Eric Reid
Also Starring: Jason O'Mara, Daniel Sunjata, John Leguizamo, Sherri Shepherd, Debbie Reynolds, Debra Monk, Nate Mooney, Adam Paul, Fisher Stevens, Ana Reeder and Patrick Fischler."

What's next?.....movie stills, press releases, and (drum roll please).........trailer!!!!! (Can you hear the hallelujah chorus?) LOL

Lionsgate has just given us enough info to wet our whistle...let's hope it's not months before they gives us another drink!! Cross those fingers and toes people that this is just the beginning of an amazing marketing campaign. (Okay, so it's only a synopsis, but I'm thinking big here trying to get those positive vibes out there.) ;)

Another Great Interview on "One for the Money" with Janet Evanovich"

To sum up, this is an awesome interview with Janet Evanovich about her new book, what she thinks about the cast of "One for the Money," and her take on Jersey itself. This interview has really gotten me even more excited about the upcoming movie getting her opinion of all the characters...even if it is vague because she hasn't seen the movie yet. Personally, I think they should let Janet see a private screening of "OFTM" before it comes out...her being the creator of Steph and all. Don't you?  Oh and....you know...if they are feeling generous and wanted to oh...MAKE MY WHOLE DECADE...they could, um maybe....shoot another ticket my way....I wouldn't complain one bit...uh-unh...not at all.
"Janet Evanovich remembers sitting at a card table, "feeling like a real idiot" when only a few people showed up at her book signing.

Now -- 21 books later -- Katherine Heigl is starring as the author's Trenton bounty-hunter protagonist, Stephanie Plum, in an upcoming movie. Fans show up at Evanovich's signings early in the morning to secure numbered wristbands so they don't have to stand in line all day. There's usually a couple thousand people.

And she's no longer living in New Jersey, but sunny Florida, where she signs stacks of books in advance of their release.

Although Plum made her debut in '94, the character's fun-loving essence remains current, says Evanovich.

"I could see Stephanie and Snooki going out for pizza, going shoe shopping at Macy's," she says. After all, the author appreciates a good mall herself. Surely Evanovich has something to say about Heigl, the new face of Plum. Out in January, the movie "One for the Money" will bring the character to the big screen with the story from Evanovich's book of the same title, the first in what became a best-selling series.

Truth is, she has no idea what to say, because she hasn't seen the movie yet. In film stills, though, she thinks Heigl "looked great" as Plum, the actress's normally flaxen locks transformed into Plum's requisite dark, curly hair.
"Frequently I'm called Stephanie," says Evanovich. "I bear no resemblance to her."

Originally from South River, the author now resides in Naples, Fla., where Evanovich says there's enough stores, including a Costco, to sate her shopping needs. Team Evanovich includes daughter Alex, Evanovich's creative director who has co-written a graphic novel with her; son Peter; and husband Pete. She will be back in New Jersey on Tuesday, in Princeton, to sign books and mark the release of "Smokin' Seventeen," which is the 21st book in the Plum series, one that has long been bankable in print but is only now coming to film.

"One for the Money," a film based on Janet Evanovich's 1994 novel and the first in her Stephanie Plum series will star Katherine Heigl, above, as the Trenton bounty hunter and is scheduled to be out in January.

"I know nothing about making a movie," says Evanovich, who says she had little to do with the film and prefers the hands-off approach to her story's adaptation. "It's like someone making me a birthday cake."

Evanovich's endorsement of the upcoming movie's leading men -- Daniel Sunjata (of TV's "Rescue Me") in the role of Ranger and Jason O'Mara ("Life on Mars") as Trenton police detective Joe Morelli -- is that they're "very hot."

I have to agree with Janet! "Nummy!!"

Can't you just see Jason all scruffy looking from camping out in his van hiding from Steph, the police, and the men who want him dead?  Love me some stubble!! *swoon...thud*

"I love Sherri Shepherd as Lula," adds Evanovich, in her soft, friendly voice. She also thinks Debbie Reynolds, in the role of Grandma Mazur, is "going to be terrific."

The movie was not filmed in Plum's Trenton, but in Pennsylvania.

"What they told me is that there are parts of Pittsburgh that look a lot like parts of Trenton," says Evanovich. She looks forward to a possible infusion of new Stephanie Plum readers after the movie's out, including anyone for whom the phrase "Trenton bounty hunter" didn't already sound like compelling material.

"I think it's going to help raise my profile," says Evanovich.

The work on a "One for the Money" movie was actually begun in 1994, even before the book was released. Around books four and five, the Stephanie Plum series "exploded, especially in Jersey," says Evanovich.

Screenwriter team Karen Ray and Stacy Sherman were brought on to write the screenplay after Columbia Tristar bought the film rights to the story. They were flown out to Trenton to get a feel for the place, says Ray, who remembers driving around with the Trenton police.

"She's fun and spicy and smart and strong-willed," says Ray of Evanovich's bounty hunter Plum. "What woman doesn't want to read that?"

Since then, other writers, including Liz Brixius, a co-creator of the Edie Falco show "Nurse Jackie," were brought on for the script.

Ray says the strength in Evanovich's writing is that "she understands comedy in everyday situations." That, and her gift for evoking a strong sense of place.

"My job was kind of made easy," says Evanovich. "New Jersey is kind of a caricature of itself. I just tapped into what was an existing culture."

For Evanovich's existing throngs of devoted fans, in Jersey and elsewhere, "Smokin' Seventeen" awaits. In it, a serial killer leaves dead bodies addressed to Plum, "so that's kind of fun," says Evanovich, who last year left St. Martin's Press for Random House.

"It's been a good move," says Evanovich, appreciative that fans can send each other virtual doughnuts on a Facebook fanpage and that there's now a Janet Evanovich mobile app. She's always liked "free tchotchkes" like the ones she likes to give out at signings.

"What I do miss is the Jersey Shore," she says, surrounded by palm trees but longing for Kohr's frozen custard and the lingering scents of coconut oil and sunscreen. "We don't have Point Pleasant" down in Florida, she says."
So, what do you think?  Are you getting as excited as I am?!?! Can't wait!
